As I Lay Dying‘s newest chapter has begun with the debut of a comeback single titled “Echoes“. That track emerges following yet another dramatic twist in the career of the Californian metalcore band, and more specifically their controversial vocalist Tim Lambesis.
Last November, the group’s lineup imploded for a second time, with the now former members singling out Lambesis and his concerning behavior as being the reason for the latest mass exodus. Despite the various allegations leveled against him, Lambesis vowed to rebuild As I Lay Dying for a third time, with this latest track being the first fruits of those labors.
Per the songwriting credits, the latest round of musicians to have hit the studio with Lambesis to create this song include:
Vocals/guitar: Tim Lambesis
Vocals/bass: Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within, etc.)
Guitars: Bill Hudson (NorthTale, Tommy Vext, etc.)
Guitars: Don Vedda
Guitars: Jack Daniels (War Of Ages)
Drums: Tim Yeung (Tommy Vext, ex-Divine Heresy, etc.)
However, it would appear that Daniels was a guest on the track and not a member of the band. Tom Flynn directed the below video for the song, with the group stating, “‘Echoes” marks As I Lay Dying’s powerful return and the beginning of a new era. With a revitalized line-up, the song delivers massive riffs, intense rhythms and anthemic choruses, capturing themes of struggle, loss and rebirth.”
Lambesis himself went on to say:
“As the only primary songwriter on every As I Lay Dying album, I’m always going to a find a path forward for this catalog of music that I’m so passionate about. But sometimes things come together even better than expected. I’m incredibly grateful for my new bandmates. In addition to being incredibly talented, they genuinely care about my well being and the band we are now all a part of.”
Hudson added:
Tim L and I first met almost 20 years ago and I’ve been in multiple bands with Tim Y. It’s an honor to be a part of the new chapter of As I Lay Dying. What a great way to get together and play with so many friends of 15+ years at the same time!”
Clancy offered:

This single arrives independently via the band, emerging a few weeks ahead of their live return, which will commence towards the end of this month in Russia. That European trek will find the band celebrating 20 years of “Shadows Of Security” at the following venues:
