Cold Slither, the fictional Cobra-led metal band originally conceived back in the 1980s for the ‘G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero‘ animated series, has released a new holiday track, “Cobra C.L.A.W.S. Are Coming To Town“. In light of the ‘Cold Slither‘ episode turning 40 this year, Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music teamed up to bring the band to life, enlisting an assortment of veteran headbangers to flesh out the lineup for both a debut album and several first-ever live performances.
With Gus Ríos (Gruesome, ex-Malevolent Creation) assuming the role of Dreadnok leader (and band frontman) ‘Zartan‘, Ross Sewage (Exhumed, Ghoul, etc.) took on the role of ‘Torch‘, Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome, etc.) joined up as ‘Ripper‘, and Andy Selway (KMFDM) came onboard as ‘Buzzer‘.
This new holiday-themed track takes its inspiration from an episode of the same name from the 3rd season of that 80s animated series. ‘Torch‘ commented of the arrival of this new video, which features stop-motion animation of the action figures from the animated series, along with clips from the episode that inspired the song. He stated:
“It’s a bloomin’ treat to once again show the yobbos why we’re the best heavy metal band in the world. Bludgers thought we was washed up, but we put out the best album of 2025! Didn’t think we could nail a Chrissie song, and we turn in a bloody ripper!”
Outside of the music-related ventures, limited edition Cold Slither action figures and more were released this year in celebration of the Cold Slither episode’s anniversary.
