Abysmal Dawn‘s new single “Cradle Of Affliction” has been shared online ahead of their North American tour with Krisiun, Pyrexia & Gorgatron. Studio sessions for the Californian death metal band’s sixth album commenced this past September, with more details still to come regarding its release.
This just issued track however isn’t an entirely new sonic concoction. Instead, it has some song idea origins dating back to their 2020 album, “Phylogenesis“. Vocalist/guitarist Charles Elliot also dedicated this song to the late At The Gates, etc. vocalist Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg, who died from cancer last month. Elliot said:
“‘Cradle of Affliction‘ nods to the sound of our first record and our earlier melodic death metal influences like At The Gates. This one is for Tomas (R.I.P.) and all the fans who have continued to support Abysmal Dawn throughout our journey for more than two decades now.”
Elliot went on to add that no artificial intelligence was used in the creation of the song and its below music video, which was directed by Robert Graves:
“The music is written played, recorded and mixed by humans. The artwork was created by a human. The music video was shot and edited by a human. We hope you come out to a show and support four of your favorite semi-humans playing death metal while you still can. Cheers!”
