Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg, vocalist of legendary Swedish melodic death metal band At The Gates has passed away following a battle with cancer. This past August, the 52-year-old Lindberg and the band revealed that he had privately been fighting cancer, after being diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in late 2023.
Sadly, the band confirmed the news of his passing this morning, September 16th, issuing the below statement on the matter:

Tomas passed away this morning following complications related to his ongoing cancer treatment.
Despite intensive medical efforts, his life could not be saved.
Tomas – You were an inspiration to us all. A true friend, both compassionate & sympathetic. You will always be remembered for your generosity and your creative spirit.
You will be eternally missed.
Forever in our hearts.”
