A trailer has just been released for a new documentary on the late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne. That doc has been titled ‘Ozzy: No Escape From Now‘ and filming for it began back in early 2022 with by BAFTA-award winner Tania Alexander serving as the director.
Completed with the full involvement of Ozzy and his family, the documentary charts Osbourne‘s life and career, with a focus being placed on his latter years and eventual health struggles. Osbourne was left severely injured by a 2019 late night fall, dislodging several steel rods previously surgically inserted to help him recover from an early 2000s ATV crash.
The aftermath of that fall and subsequent failed medical treatments severely impacted his mobility in this latter years, alongside his advancing struggles with Parkinson’s disease. Outside of unrestricted access to the family, this new documentary features commentary from numerous famous friends and bandmates of Osbourne, with the following musicians having been confirmed as taking part:
Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath)
Zakk Wylde
Andrew Watt
Billy Morrison
Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses)
Robert Trujillo (Metallica)
Billy Idol
Maynard James Keenan (Tool)
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
James Hetfield (Metallica)
As seen in the trailer, filming for the project was extensive, capturing his time in the studio for his final albums, his brief returns to the stage with the aid of a back brace, and culminating in his grand live sendoff at this past July’s ‘Back To The Beginning‘ farewell concert. Sadly, that all-star farewell took place mere weeks ahead of his untimely July 22nd death from a heart attack at the age of 76.
Speaking this past February upon the official announcement of the project, Osbourne‘s wife Sharon said of the scope of the project:
“This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years. It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown while dealing with a number of serious health issues, including Parkinson’s. It’s about the reality of his life now. We have worked with a production team we trust and have allowed them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire people that are facing similar issues to Ozzy.”
‘Ozzy: No Escape From Now‘ will premiere on Paramount+ on October 07th.
