Earlier in the year, glam metal outfit Mötley Crüe postponed their Las Vegas, NV residency that was intended to take place in March and April of the spring. At the time, the group’s vocalist Vince Neil communicated that he was having health issues, with the band’s camp indicating he required an “unspecified medical procedure.” In a statement issued on March 04th of this year, Neil stated:

“To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I’m truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage. Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.”

While Neil returned to the stage last month, the 64-year-old musician has now publicly revealed the severity of the medical incident that sidelined him. Speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Neil confirmed he had a stroke after going to sleep on Christmas day, December 25th, 2024.

Neil relayed that he felt fine on Christmas day, but after going to sleep that night, he woke up and his “whole left side went out”. Neil went on to say of his condition, “I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough. The doctors said they didn’t think I’d be able to go back on stage again. I go, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.'”

Neil has since undertaken months of physical therapy and treatment to get back on his feet, stating:

“I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn’t walk myself, finally to a wheelchair. I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don’t need anything. But it’s like a full-time job getting back to where you feel good again.”

He added:

“It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do. You try to walk but it doesn’t come out right.”

He went on to say that among his physical therapy regiments has been ladder agility drills from a local football coach. Neil relayed of that:

“I’ve doing that a lot, a lot of running — I learned how to run again. “It’s been tough, but I’m back, I’m 90-, 95-percent to where I was before, and it’s going to be great.”
