Soulfly‘s thirteenth studio album “Chama” will be arriving before the year’s end. That ten-song outing was recorded with the band’s own Zyon Cavalera sharing production duties with Arthur Rizk (Cavalera, Blood Incantation). Frontman/guitarist Max Cavalera offered of the album and its title:
“Chama is the Brazilian word for flame. It also means a ‘calling’. Respect to Alex Pereira for using Itsari on his UFC walkouts. ‘Chama‘ is inspired by the energy of this moment. This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire! I cannot wait to play these songs live for the Tribe! Chama!”
Zyon added:
“With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. This record was no different as I got to handle a good amount of the production for the first time. Trying to take the band to places we have never been before was a blast and I look forward to more production work in the future!”
The veteran groove metal outfit have just rolled out the song “Storm The Gates” as the album’s first single. Nuclear Blast have an October 24th release date slated for the record itself, which will sport a number of guest appearances.
In addition to Nails nucleus Todd Jones, you can expect to hear contributions from Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares, No Warning vocalist Ben Cook and Unto Others vocalist/guitarist Gabe Franco.
