A Killer’s Confession have set out to put their own stamp on the late era Nirvana hit “Heart-Shaped Box“. That 3x platinum song was launched as the first single from Nirvana‘s final studio album, 1993’s 6x platinum “In Utero“, back on August 30th of that year.
A Killer’s Confession, who are fronted by ex-Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, will have their rendition included as one of the 11 tracks set aside for their next album “Victim 2“. That follow-up to last year’s “Victim 1” will be out on September 19th.
Reavis said of this take on the track:
“I’ve always loved Nirvana. Kurt Cobain was a huge influence in my youth, and I felt that he helped shape the music that we create today and I wanted to do something that would honor his memory. We had been tossing around the idea of doing a cover song, but I needed it to fit into the concept. I felt like a Heart Shaped Box was the right choice. So I thought to myself what if this was the song that was playing in the killer’s head and maybe it’s a song that started to change him for the better.”
This metallic version of the grunge classic has surfaced online complete with a music video directed by Austin Scherzberg, you can watch that yourself below:
