Multi-platinum Swedish occult rockers Ghost dedicated their sold out show at Madison Square Garden tonight (July 22nd) to the late Ozzy Osbourne. The two-time Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-inducted heavy metal icon passed away this morning, surrounded by his loved ones following a lengthy battle with illness.
Ghost vocalist Tobias Forge (aka Papa V Perpetua) was one of the special guests invited to perform at Osbourne‘s and Black Sabbath‘s recent final live concert, July 05th’s ‘Back To The Beginning‘ in Birmingham, UK. Forge took on the Ozzy classic “Bark At The Moon” during his time on stage.
Addressing the audience at the aforementioned legendary venue tonight, Forge told the crowd [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“Good evening New York City. How are you? It’s one of them days now. We’re gonna dedicate tonight’s show to the memory of the life and laughter of Ozzy Osbourne. For being the Prince Of Darkness, he sure gave us a lot of light. So we’re gonna tap into that tonight and carry it forward through a time of darkness…”
Ghost‘s ‘Skeletour‘ picks up again this Thursday, July 24th in Detroit, MI. However, the band are set to appear on this Wednesday’s (July 23rd) episode of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘.
