Former Judas Priest drummer Les Binks has passed away. Binks sat behind the kit for the British metal legends from 1977 to 1979, appearing on “Stained Class“, “Killing Machine” and their first alive album “Unleashed In The East“. Word of the 73-year-old musician’s death arrives just ahead of what would have been his 74th birthday tomorrow, April 15th.

Outside of his time with Judas Priest, Binks worked with countless groups both live and through session work. His contributions with Judas Priest were recognized back in 2022, when he was named as one of band’s past members to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame with them. That induction ceremony also marked his final live performance with the group.

Judas Priest took to social media tonight, April 14th, to comment on Binks‘ passing, offering the following statement:

“MESSAGE FROM THE BAND RE LES BINKS:

We are deeply saddened about the passing of Les and send our love to his family, friends and fans.

The acclaimed drumming he provided was first class – demonstrating his unique techniques, flair, style and precision –

Thank you Les – your acclaim will live on…”
