Emo rock champions My Chemical Romance have newly notched up a string of gold and platinum single certifications in the United States. In light of the just announced 21st anniversary deluxe edition of their 3x multi-platinum sophomore album “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge“, the RIAA have rolled out a new round of awards.
First up, that album’s lead single, “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)“, has newly been certified 3x platinum, having last hit platinum back in February of 2017. “Helena“, which served as the second single from that record, has now gone 4x platinum, having previously hit gold status back in August of 2008.
“The Ghost Of You“, which was released as the third and final single from that album, has gone both gold and platinum. Meanwhile, two non-singles in “You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison” and “Thank You For The Venom” have both been newly been certified gold.
A June 06th release date has been scheduled for the above-mentioned deluxe reissue of “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge“.
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
