Professionally shot footage of Post Malone performing with the surviving members of Nirvana‘s classic era lineup has newly been shared online in full. The multi-diamond certified rapper, country artist, actor, etc. sat in with the drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear of the aforementioned grunge legends as part of last weekend’s 50th anniversary concert for the late night sketch comedy show, ‘Saturday Night Live‘.
Together they ran through Nirvana‘s diamond-certified 1991 breakthrough hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit“. Malone‘s admiration for Nirvana was previously on full display back in 2020, when he fronted a Nirvana tribute band featuring Travis Barker (Blink-182) and more that raised millions for COVID-19 relief at the time. That livestreamed set also received praise from Nirvana themselves. In a seemingly non-coincidental move, that latter benefit set will be released on vinyl this Record Store Day (April 12th) as “Post Malone Tribute To Nirvana“.
