It seems that drummer Jason Roeder of Sleep and Neurosis fame has retired from performing live. That decision doesn’t appear to have been reached without some acrimony too, given that his current Instagram bio states, “I used to go on stage and pretend I was supposed to be there.” A since-deleted post shared by Roeder several months ago saw him state “music is a cruel bitch.”
Yesterday, January 27th, saw Roeder begin selling his gear online, stating:
“I am no longer a touring musician so I will be selling off most (possibly all) of my equipment and belongings.
I can’t stand FB marketplace so I’ll be posting up here and on CL. Drums and cymbals, etc up soon.
Midas M32 mixer for sale. DN32-LIVE card installed. Includes road case. Excellent clean condition. Pickup or delivery in the Portland OR area. (sorry no shipping) Serious offers only via DM. (if you know these mixers you know what to offer)
Thanks for reading.”
Sleep have pretty much been dormant since 2022. Neurosis went on hiatus in the wake of vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly admitting to abusing his wife and children back in August of 2022.
