Diamond-certified rap rock/country artist Kid Rock has long had the ear and admiration of U.S. President Donald Trump, so it’s not a surprise that he has some sway with the incoming president’s second term. While Rock‘s past political ambitions proved to be a publicity stunt, it would seem that he may have a hand in some potential legislation regarding the ticketing practices of the music industry via Trump‘s incoming administration.
This past May saw the U.S. Department Of Justice file an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment & Ticketmaster. Attorney General Merrick Garland said at the time:
“We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators. The result is that fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services. It is time to break up Live Nation–Ticketmaster.”
At the moment, Pam Bondi sits as Trump‘s pick for Attorney General in his incoming administration. Per his social media, Kid Rock recently spent some time with her to discuss the current situation regarding tickets for live events and more. Speaking over the weekend, the politically outspoken Kid Rock stated:
“What a treat to break bread with our soon to be Attorney General @PamBondi. I look forward to working with her and the whole administration to help fix the fiasco of buying concert tickets. Gonna open a can of whoop ass on the bots, scalpers, venues, ticketing companies, managers and artists alike who rip off and deceive the public with the horse shit that has gone on for decades and only gotten worse. Whoever in charge that wants to help fix this, get your ass to the table, otherwise, Fuck Around and Find Out. Kid Rock #MAGA”
As noted by Rock Feed, Live Nation‘s CEO Michael Rapino appears to have applauded Rock‘s post.
