Michigan hard rockers Pop Evil have newly landed their first platinum award in the United States. “Torn To Pieces“, the fourth single from their 2013 album “Onyx“, is the first to land them that honor. That track was been certified platinum by the RIAA yesterday, November 13th. The song previously went gold back in July of 2020.
Pop Evil also have racked up a series of gold singles throughout their career, including “Waking Lions“, “100 In A 55“, “Trenches” and “Footsteps“.
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
