This year saw A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Primus unite on the road for a unique tour held in celebration of the 60th birthday of progressive metal icon Maynard James Keenan. Keenan, who in addition to fronting A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, also sings for alternative metal behemoths Tool, hit that not so tender age on April 17th of this year.
The aforementioned trio of bands dubbed that trek the ‘Sessanta‘ tour and mixed things up nightly, with members of each band joining each other onstage to deliver memorable collaborative performances of their songs. Tapping further into that vein, each of the three bands also issued new music co-written by Keenan via a three-way split.
In light of the success of that tour, its bill will be brought back next spring, with the kickoff taking place just shortly after Keenan‘s upcoming 61st birthday. The man himself commented on the decision to embark upon another leg of the trek next spring, offering:
“The Sessanta run was by far the most fun and delicious extended birthday party I’ve ever had thanks to all of the attendees and the master musicianship of Primus, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. No comparison. Decided we need to share this with people who missed the first round in places we couldn’t get to. Strap in.”
This new leg, dubbed ‘Sessanta v2.0‘, will launch on April 24th in Palm Springs, CA. Artist pre-sales will be up this Wednesday, September 18th at 10:00am local time, with the following codes provided: Puscifer: ‘KNOCKKNOCK’, A Perfect Circle: ‘BIRTHDAY’, and Primus: ‘FOOL’.
As with the original run, a new video skit featuring members of the artists set to perform has been filmed and newly released below. In it, a once again blithering and disheveled Keenan can be seen rising from the grave to partake in this new run.
