Nine Inch Nails have officially unveiled their new merch collaboration with footwear/clothing brand Dr. Martens. This pairing is taking place in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-inducted industrial metal legends’ 4x multi-platinum album, “The Downward Spiral“. Dr. Martens’ iconic boots have of course long been a staple in the industrial and gothic metal scenes.

John Crawford, who serves as the creative director for Nine Inch Nails, offered:

“This collaboration just makes so much sense. Not just because of the countless fans I’ve seen wearing Dr. Martens at NIN concerts over the years (myself included), but because NIN and Dr. Martens are both known for rejecting convention and expectation in favor of innovation, with their distinctive ability to transcend genres and styles in a way that unique to each person who experiences them. The goal was always to make this collection feel as authentically Nine Inch Nails as possible, and I believe through close collaboration with the team at Doc’s we’ve succeeded in that.”

Several offerings inspired by the iconic artwork for the album are to be served up this Friday, July 19th at drmartens.com. Fans can also signup via the aforementioned link to get further details on the drop. Four offerings are expected to be included in the collection, though only three will be made available for purchase, with the fourth being limited to special giveaways.

Set to go o n sale are a white ten-eye 1490 boot inspired by the band’s mid-90s cornstarch pre-show ritual (the group used to cover their attire in cornstarch pre-show to establish a unique look). An eight-eye boot featuring artwork from the album is also due release, as is a 1461 three-eyed shoe featuring the album’s ‘crystal teeth artwork’. The exclusive giveaway offering is a 1490 ten-eye boot embossed with the album’s artwork.
