A new docuseries chronicling the annual ‘Lollapalooza‘ festival will be premiering on Paramount+ in North America on May 21st. Director/writer, etc. Michael John Warren (‘VH1’s Heavy: The Story of Metal‘, ‘Nicki Minaj: My Time Again‘) helmed that three-part series, which has been titled ‘Lolla: The Story Of Lollapalooza‘.
That influential annual event began as a traveling festival in the early 90s and was conceived by Jane’s Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell to send off his aforementioned band at the time.
The melting pot bills that were booked amid the tour’s earliest incarnations quickly became the stuff of legend, and saw the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Body Count, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Rage Against The Machine and many more sharing stages with various alternative rock and rap artists of the time.
In 2005, the festival shifted to a series of international destination festivals, with the flagship fest remaining anchored in Chicago, IL annually.
