Wife Of Gary Holt Comments On Slayer’s Reunion Plans, Tells Haters “Don’t Go”

As with any band that returns from what was billed as their ‘farewell’, today’s (February 21st) return of thrash metal greats Slayer has been the subject of much discussion. While some feel betrayed by the group going back on their word, others are welcoming the chance to once again catch them live. There’s been no shortage of hot takes on the internet today regarding the outfit’s plans to return from retirement and the motivations behind the decision.

For Slayer in particular, the move admittedly comes with some extra baggage. A recently published interview with guitarist Kerry King laid out the lack of communication he and vocalist/bassist Tom Araya have had since the band parted ways. The pair did not broach their strained relationship amid today’s comeback announcement.

Lisa Holt, wife of Slayer, Exodus, etc. guitarist Gary Holt, took to the internet to share a bit of insight into this unexpected reunion, while also taking a shot at some of the various theories as to why they’ve opted to do so.

Speaking via Facebook, she commented:

“Yes,it’s true..and an exciting adventure for the band and fans ! To all the people saying “they are liars” “they must have ran out of money” “its not Slayer without so and so” ..I have an idea for you all…DON’T GO.. and for all the people who did go to the final tour dates and enjoyed it…awesome!! This isn’t a “TOUR” it’s some dates..and GREAT NEWS!!! And everyone that thinks they know all the inside can’t possibly just enjoy the fact that this amazing band will play some amazing shows this year…go or don’t..nobody cares!!!!!”

Slayer‘s present live plans include:

09/22 Chicago, IL – Riot Fest
09/27 Louisville, KY – Louder Than Life
