Kid Rock Has Forgiven Bud Light After Boycott: “They Deserved A Black Eye And They Got One”

Multi-platinum rapper/country artist Kid Rock has officially retired his grudge with Bud Light and their parent company Anheuser-Busch. This past April, Rock uploaded a video to the internet of himself firing off numerous bullets into several cases of Bud Light.

In that video, the outspoken musician stated:

“Grandpa’s feeling a little frisky today. Let me say something to all you and be as clear as concise and possible. fuck Bud Light and fuck Anheuser-Busch. Have a terrific day.”

Rock‘s actions in that video were widely seen to be in protest of a marketing decision made by Bud Light‘s parent company Anheuser-Busch. His video closed followed the firestorm that erupted after Bud Light enlisted trans activist/influencer Dylan Mulvaney as one of their brand ambassadors.

The conviction behind Rock‘s protest began to come into question in July however, as it was revealed that  Bud Light was still being sold at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse in Nashville, TN. In August, Rock was also photographed drinking Bud Light at a Colt Ford concert.

A recent interview with Tucker Carlson saw Rock publicly address his current stance on the beverage and brewer. He said of the matter:

“At the end of the day, when you step back and look at it, like, yeah, they deserved a black eye and they got one. They made a mistake. So, do I want to hold their head under water and drown them because they made a mistake? No, I think they got the message.”

He continued:

“Hopefully, other companies get it too but, at the end of the day, I don’t think the punishment that they’ve been getting at this point fits the crime. I would like to see us back on board and become bigger because that’s the America that I want to live in.”

He went on to add:

“There’s nothing wrong with giving a spanking. You don’t spank them for the rest of their life.”

Anheuser-Busch & Bud Light‘s decision to partner with Mulvaney and provide the influencer with a personalized can proved to have drastic financial consequences for the company. Numerous individuals, particularly of right-wing beliefs, would go on to stage public boycotts of the Bud Light brand, leading to Anheuser-Busch‘s stock to initially plummet 17%. The brewer and brand has however begun to recover in more recent months though.
