Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor has dispelled the rumors surrounding the potential identity for who next will sit behind the drum kit for the aforementioned multi-platinum masked metal band. Following this month’s shocking dismissal of Jay Weinberg from the post, speculation has been running rampant.
The rumor mill picked up on the timing of drummer Jeramie Kling exiting Venom Inc. (also of Abiotic, etc.) as being suspicious. Several theories on Kling getting the role were amplified online, and admittedly Kling took to getting in on the hype himself, as evidenced in the hashtag of ‘#im666’ on his below Instagram post. Some took that hashtag to be a reference to the lyrics of Slipknot‘s “Heretic Anthem“.
Today, November 27th, saw Taylor himself snuff out that speculation, seemingly ruling out Kling on social media earlier today, November 27th. Furthermore, it would also appear that given Taylor‘s mention of a ‘list’, a firm decision on the band’s next member has yet to be made. Here’s what Taylor had to say:
To everyone wondering about our new drummer…
It’s not him.
Stop letting him troll you.
He’s not even on the list.#hesnot666— fuck your checkmark (@CoreyTaylorRock) November 27, 2023
