The volatility found in Slipknot‘s lineup in recent years has continued, this time with drummer Jay Weinberg and the band having parted ways. A statement was issued by the multi-platinum masked metal outfit today, November 05th, it reads as follows:

“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison‘s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey‘s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

A member since 2014, Weinberg‘s departure follows that of early members Chris Fehn in 2018 and Craig Jones earlier this year. Weinberg‘s final show with the band took place this past Friday, November 03rd at the annual ‘Hell & Heaven Metal Fest‘ in Toluca, Mexico.

Update: November 05th, 2023 04:10pm:

Slipknot have since deleted the original statement they shared across their social media earlier today, announcing their decision to part ways with Weinberg.
