Northlane were in the studio with producer Will Putney (of Fit For An Autopsy, END, Better Lovers, etc.) a few months back to lay down new music. Now the Australian progressive metalcore outfit have seen fit to begin rolling out what they came up with. “Dante” is the first single out of the gate and is available via the below music video. Ed Reiss directed those visuals, with the song featuring input from Ray Vavasis of Arrowbird.
According to a press release, this song was initially written by the band’s guitarist Jon Deiley, originally as a pure dance track for use outside of the band. Vocalist Marcus Bridge commented of the lyrical inspiration:
“‘Dante‘ is a song about losing someone close to us. As we try to process our grief, we are constantly asking ourselves questions, memories clouded with reminders of our loved one’s pain, wondering if there’s anything we could have done.”
