Several artists of the hard rock and metalcore persuasion were recently awarded new certifications by the RIAA. First up, Black Veil Brides landed a platinum single for their 2013 track “In The End“. It is their first track to go platinum. The band’s 2011 single “Fallen Angels” has also newly gone gold as well.
Hard rock mainstays Seether netted themselves another platinum single, this time for their 2014 song “Words As Weapons“.
Meanwhile, melodic metalcore outfit I Prevail landed three gold singles (“Bow Down“, “Breaking Down” & “Stuck In Your Head“) as well as gold certification for their 2016 debut album “Lifelines“; their first album to go gold thus far in the United States.
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
