Ozzy Osbourne has issued a brief statement on his big wins at yesterday’s (February 05th) 65th annual GRAMMY Awards. The 74-year-old heavy metal icon took home the award for ‘Best Metal Performance’ for his song with his former Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi, “Degradation Blues“. Osbourne also took won ‘Best Rock Album’ for his latest album “Patient Number 9“.

Osbourne, who recently retired from touring amid his declining health, was not in attendance to accept those rewards. Instead, “Patient Number 9” producer Andrew Watt and former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Robert Trujillo (now of Metallica) were present to accept the awards on Ozzy‘s behalf. Trujillo also appeared on “Patient Number 9“.

In a press release issued today, the now five-time GRAMMY-winning Osbourne offered:

“I’m one lucky motherfucker to have won the ‘Best Rock Album’ Grammy. I was blessed to work with some of the greatest musicians in the world and Andrew Watt as my producer on this album. Winning the ‘Best Metal Performance’ was equally gratifying being that the song featured my longtime friend and Black Sabbath bandmate, Tony Iommi.”

Osbourne beat out stiff competition for the aforementioned awards, having been up against the likes of Megadeth, Ghost, Turnstile, Muse and more.
