Screaming Trees Bassist Van Conner Has Passed Away

Former Screaming Trees bassist Van Conner has passed away at the age of 55. His brother and Screaming Trees bandmate, Gary Lee Conner, shared the sad news today, January 18th. In a post on social media, he offered:

Prior to his passing, Van had been suffering from various health issues. An update shared on him on January 05th revealed that he was placed in a coma following emergency stomach surgery in late 2021.

He later contracted COVID-19, which left him with a blood clot in his lung, which resulted in another coma. While he recovered to an extent, he was unable to walk and suffered damage to his lungs, leaving him confined to bed at his home for several months. He was later hospitalized with a liver infection, before ultimately passing away from pneumonia.

Van‘s passing sadly marks the second member of the band to leave this mortal coil, with frontman Mark Lanegan having died in February of last year.
