Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck has passed away at the age of 78. According to a statement issued by his camp, the guitar virtuoso, who influenced generations of musicians along his decades-long career in music, died as a result of bacterial meningitis.
The below statement was issued today (January 11th) in regards to his passing:
“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Beck rose to fame with The Yardbirds before eventually going on to strike it out on his own, releasing over a dozen studio albums. Tributes have been pouring in from across the metal and hard rock community, see below for some of the commentary from various metal luminaries.
