Roughly seven albums deep, Philadelphia, PA-based post-hardcore outfit Circa Survive went on an indefinite hiatus this year. The decision to put the band on pause was made ahead of last week’s arrival of “Two Dreams“— a full-length compilation of their two previously released EPs “A Dream About Love” & “A Dream About Death“.
Given the breadth of their catalog, the group’s frontman Anthony Green (also of Saosin & L.S. Dunes fame), was recently asked by Revolver which song he feels would serve as the best introduction to the Circa Survive catalog.
Rather than an old standard, Green opted for the newer song, “Electric Moose“, from the aforementioned EP compilation. He stated of that:
“There’s a song called ‘Electric Moose‘ that we recorded on our last record, and it’s just one of my favorite songs ever. I don’t know if it encompasses all the musical directions of the whole band, but I know that it’s one of my favorite songs that we ever wrote together, and I just love it so much. And I look to it as the quintessential Circa Survive song, even though it might not sound anything like the other songs or the other records.”
