The heavy metal festival season that has taken place this month across Latin America has proven to be a victory lap for Brazilian metal legends Sepultura. Their appearance yesterday, December 18th, at the Slipknot-led ‘Knotfest Brasil‘ in São Paulo, Brazil is yet more proof of that.
It saw the pioneering groove metal band joined by Anthrax, Mr. Bungle, etc. guitarist Scott Ian during “Cut-Throat“, Trivium vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy on “Slave New World” and Pantera, etc. frontman Phil Anselmo during “Arise“—a guest role he took on last week as well.
Fan-filmed footage from last night’s proceedings can be found below. Meanwhile, Heafy commented later of the experience:
“If you told me that someday I’d be playing on stage with Sepultura (one of my favorite bands of all damn time) in Brazil (in a country that changed my life with its martial arts, food, culture, and people) – I wouldn’t have believed you.
Absolute dream come true. Obrigado Sepultura!!”
