December 15th, 2019 saw Finnish melodic death metal icons Children Of Bodom wrap up their illustrious career with a farewell show at Jäähalli in Helsinki, Finland. Unfortunately, just over a year later tragedy struck with the December 29th, 2020 death of the band’s vocalist/guitarist Alexi Laiho.
Having now been given some time to process that grief and sort out their affairs, the band’s surviving members have announced that they will be releasing that final show as a live album in 2023. They are also seeking fan contributions by way of Bodom -related memories from any era of the band for potential inclusion in the release.
Read on for what they had to say about that earlier today, December 15th:
“Exactly three years ago 15th December 2019 Children Of Bodom played their last show at the Helsinki Ice Hall.
To keep this precious last moment alive and also available to everyone who couldn’t make it to see the show, Alexi’s estate, Daniel, Henkka, Janne and Jaska will release the show next year as a live album.
To make it more special we’d love to have photos from YOU to be included in the album booklet.
What we’re looking for is any Bodom related memories, from any era. We would like the Hate Crew to be part of the album, as the Hate Crew was always the essential part of the phenomenon called Children Of Bodom.
That’s why we are asking you to be part of this!
