Update: December 13th, 2022 02:09 PM:

Footage shot from the actual drone in question that hovered front stage during Mr. Bungle‘s recent set in Santiago, Chile has now emerged online and can be viewed below. In that footage you can see Patton make his unsuccessful attempt to swat the UAV out of the sky.

Original Story:

While not entirely commonplace in North America, drones being illegally flown at live concerts has been a problem in certain territories. Late last month Axl Rose, vocalist of hard rock legends Guns N’ Roses, issued a public plea for fans not to fly drones at the band’s live shows. He issued that statement amid the band’s then Australian tour—which admittedly had problems with other flying objects.

In the below footage from yesterday’s (December 11th) set at ‘Knotfest Chile‘ in Santiago, Chile, acclaimed singer Mike Patton attempted to get the some payback on an unmanned aerial vehicle. Patton was back onstage fronting Mr. Bungle during their set at the festival when a drone emerged in front of him.

While it is unclear on whether or not it was a drone flown illegally by someone nearby, or one employed by the venue, it is certain that Patton wanted none of it. You can see how all that transpired in the below fan-filmed footage.

If you missed it, that same performance also saw Mr. Bungle joined by members of Sepultura for a cover of the latter’s “Territory“.

12/15 Buenos Aires, ARG – Teatro Flores
