German metalcore crew Caliban have released a new standalone single, “The Shadow“. A music video for that track was shot with director Tom Brückner and is available to view below. As for the lyrical inspiration behind song, the band offered:
“‘The Shadow‘ is about breaking out of a situation you got into by being blinded and deceived. A bloody made-up fairy tale with a happy ending.”

The song arrives just ahead of the group’s forthcoming tour with GHØSTKID, Resolve and League Of Distortion. While originally planned for a 13-date run across multiple countries, the outfit recently scaled it down, citing “a combination of organizational problems, economic reality and general obstacles in these times.”
If you didn’t notice in the above promo image, the group parted ways with their bassist Marco Schaller this past September, offering at the time:
“With a heavy heart we unfortunately have to announce that Caliban and Marco are going separate ways. We shared the stage for more than 18 years, in good and bad times, but due to the Corona Pandemic, disorientation, inevitable reorientation and private matters, it is no longer possible to follow common paths.
There will be no replacement for Marco at the moment. We work on a solution, but the upcoming tour in December will take place in spite of everything!!!
We wish Marco all the best for his future, you‘ll always have a place in our hearts.
