Ghost Release “Mary On A Cross” Live Video Amid The Song’s Continued Viral Success

Gold-certified Swedish melodic metal outfit Ghost have been enjoying some viral TikTok success in recent months. An altered version of the band’s 2019 song “Mary On A Cross” caught fire on the social media app this summer, leading the elaborately costumed outfit to release an official ‘slowed+reverb’ version of the track.

That song’s rise up the charts has continued with it just recently debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 at #90, marking the band’s first-ever entry on that chart. Per Luminate, that track garnered 6 million streams and 1,000 paid downloads during September 09th-15th alone, which represented a 7% increase on the previous reporting period.

Mary On A Cross” is also now in contention for becoming the group’s signature track. It currently sits at 107,200,386 streams on Spotify as of press time. The group’s current most popular track is 2016’s “Square Hammer“, which is presently sitting at 112,702,764 streams. Amid all the viral success, the group have just launched a live video for “Mary On A Cross“, culling the footage from their live set in Tampa, FL earlier this month on September 06th.

In other news, the group’s mastermind Tobias Forge recently took part in a livestreamed interview with Mastodon drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor. You can give that a listen below. The two bands had just spent the past few weeks on tour together across North America.
