Pantera’s New Video Trailer Says Reunion Touring Is ‘For The Brothers’, Fans & Legacy

Following this morning’s announcement of four festival live appearances, the officially reunited Pantera have now released a brief video, which in part elaborates on their return. The decision to reunite the chart-topping Texan metal favorites close to 20 years since their acrimonious dissolution has certainly been cause for discussion since word first leaked out last month.

While vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist/vocalist Rex Brown were there for the height of the band’s success and are behind this forthcoming reunion, the final years and ultimate end of Pantera back in 2003 was a complicated affair, with a severely soured relationship between Anselmo and the band’s late brotherly duo of guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott spilling over into the press.

Those issues divided not only the band, but also their fanbase over the years. As such, Abbott himself was vocally against the band reuniting back in 2014, citing his longstanding issues with Anselmo.

With the blessings of the estates of the Abbott brothers, Anselmo and Brown have set out resurrect the band with Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante in place of the departed siblings. Wylde and Benante have both since spoken of the opportunity to take part in the reunion, with Wylde describing it as “a Pantera celebration.”

That same sentiment appears to be conveyed in this newly released video, which states,’For the brothers. For the fans. For legacy.’ With North American and European touring already being lined up, Pantera are currently set to return to the stage this December for the following shows:

12/02 Toluca, MEX – Foro Pegaso (‘Hell & Heaven Metal Fest
12/09 Bogotá, COL – Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín (‘Knotfest Colombia‘)
12/11 Santiago, CHL – Estadio Monumental (‘Knotfest Chile‘)
12/18 São Paulo, BRA – Anhembi Sambadrome (‘Knotfest Brasil‘)
