Vinnie Paul Shoots Down Renewed Pantera With Zakk Wylde Reunion Rumors

The idea of the surviving Pantera members reuniting for a victory lap with Black Label Society‘s Zakk Wylde taking the place of late guitar great ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott has been floating around for years. However, former singer Philip H. Anselmo‘s recent onstage pairings for Pantera covers with Wylde have gotten the rumor mill churning again.

The strained relationship between Anselmo and Darrell‘s brother/Pantera, etc. drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott has long been the sticking point of such a union taking place. In a recent interview with, Vinnie Paul once again shot down the possibility of him and Anselmo being in the same room, let alone onstage together:

“If you had an ex-wife, and it was a pretty bitter split, you might not ever want to talk to her again. Who cares if everybody in the family and your friends want you to say hello again? It’s your choice whether you want to do it or not. And I think a lot of people are selfish. They say, ‘Oh, he oughtta just kiss and make up with Phil and everything will be cool. And then they can go get Zakk Wylde and everything’s gonna be great.’ No, everything’s not gonna be great.”
