Thanks to its inclusion in the season four finale of the Netflix hit series  ‘Stranger Things‘ last month, the title track to Metallica‘s acclaimed 36-year-old album “Master Of Puppets“, has been enjoying a pop culture moment.

An updated cover of the track (featuring additional guitar tracking by Tye Trujillo) appeared in a pivotal scene involving the season’s beloved metalhead character Eddie Munson. Actor Joseph Quinn, who portrayed Munson, practiced the song for months to convincingly deliver his performance of it.

The renewed interest in the song led not only to a substantial rise on various charts, but also the recent debut of an animated lyric video for the track. While the thrash metal titans have ‘dueted’ with Munson in the wake of the song going viral, their headlining set at last night’s (July 28th) ‘Lollapalooza‘ in Chicago, IL saw the group give another nod to Munson and the aforementioned Netflix series.

Throughout their live performance of the track, footage of Munson and more from the series was played across the screens behind the band, including the solo. Footage of that taken from the official livestream of the set can be seen below.
