March 01st will see the digital release of “Opiate2” from multi-platinum progressive alternative metal band Tool. That outing will be released in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the group’s 1992 debut EP “Opiate” and will also be made available on Blu-ray with an accompanying short film on March 18th through RCA Records.
“Opiate2” will sport a ‘reimagined and extended version’ of the EP’s title track. The band’s guitarist Adam Jones worked alongside visual artist Dominic Hailstone (‘Alien: Covenant‘, ‘The Eel‘) on that 10-minute feature, which will serve as the band’s first new video release in 15 years.
According to an official press release:
“The clip continues Tool’s knack for merging the aural and visual worlds, creating an all-encompassing experience for the listener that has been a hallmark of the outfit since their inception. Hailstone and Jones also collaborated on the filmed pieces featured on the current Fear Inoculum tour.”
The Blu-ray release will be featured within a 46-page art book featuring behind the scenes photos along with interviews and insight from special guests. You can pre-order it now here. At the moment the band are out on the road in the U.S. with The Acid Helps, here’s where you can catch them:
