Rising UK trio Tigercub have newly announced their worldwide signing with Loosegroove Records, the label headed by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard. You may recall that last May Gossard publicly expressed his love of Tigercub and asked them via social media if they wanted to sign with his label. As it turns out, the answer was yes.
Gossard and Loosegroove Records co-founder Regan Hagar (Brad, Malfunkshun) plan to reboot the label around Tigercub and their future outfit. In addition to previously releasing albums from Critters Buggin, Weapon Of Choice and more, Loosegroove Records also originally put out the self-titled debut album from Queens Of The Stone Age—a band Tigercub have drawn many favorable comparisons to.
Speaking of signing Tigercub, Hagar offered, “It’s a band like Tigercub that makes us want to reboot Loosegroove.”Gossard added:
“It’s almost 23 years to date that Queens Of The Stone Age debuted at Mercury Lounge in NYC. And now Tigercub makes their Big Apple debut in the same club on April 16th. This is just the beginning for this incredibly talented group from Brighton UK to enlighten us Yanks to the sound of the new heavy!”
