Update: November 17th, 2021 02:08 PM:

Danny Wimmer Presents, the production and promotion company behind the ‘Welcome To Rockville‘ festival, as well as several others including ‘Louder Than Life‘, ‘Aftershock‘, “Inkcarceration‘ and more, have also taken action against Brass Against for Urista‘s actions. Danny Hayes, who serves as CEO of the company, has revealed that the band have lost their spot on next year’s ‘Voragos‘ rock cruise and that they will not be taking part in any future events put on by the company. Hayes stated:

“I’m starting to be asked about Brass Against. Let me be clear. I am disgusted by their actions. We are removing them from Voragos and all future DWP events. I apologize to all of the families in the audience. Rock does not need cheap stunts when we have so many amazingly talented bands.”

Original Story:

Brass Against vocalist Sophia Urista has issued a statement of her own addressing her eye-opening performance at last week’s ‘Welcome To Rockville‘ festival in Daytona Beach, FL. As you’ve likely heard by now, Urista urinated on a willing fan onstage during her band’s set at the festival. The incident drew numerous headlines, with NSFW footage of it having widely circulated online.

In the wake of the controversy, the band themselves issued this statement on the matter:

“We had a great time in Daytona last night at Welcome To Rockville.

Sophia got carried away.

That’s not something the rest of us expected, and it’s not something you’ll see again at Brass Against shows.

Thanks for bringing it last night, Daytona.”

Now Urista herself has commented, offering the below statement today, November 16th:

“Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona.

I have always pushed the limits in music and onstage. That night, I pushed the limits too far.

I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything and I know some were hurt or offended by what I did. I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn’t mean to hurt them.

I am not a shock artist. I always want to put the music first. I’m grateful for all of your continued love and support.”

Urista‘s statement follows word yesterday (November 15th) that local authorities have been looking into the incident. It has also been revealed that Brass Against have since been banned at playing at NASCAR-affiliated venues in the wake of that performance, which took place at the Daytona International Speedway.

NASCAR spokesperson Ruyssell Branham stated:

“Daytona International Speedway doesn’t condone the inappropriate actions that took place during Thursday’s Welcome to Rockville event. We are working with promoter Danny Wimmer Presents to address the issue. The band will not be included in future programming at NASCAR venues.”
