Pioneering nü-metal outfit Korn‘s 2021 touring has certainly not been without consequence. First up the band’s bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu went on hiatus to address his “bad habits”. Suicidal Tendencies bassist Ra Diaz was then tapped as his replacement and has filled in for him over the past few months.
Then this past August, the band’s frontman Jonathan Davis tested positive for COVID-19, forcing a number of dates to be rescheduled and Davis to perform live with the aid of a throne. In early September the band’s guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer also tested positive for COVID-19, with Love & Death/Spoken guitarist J.R. Bareis temporarily filling in for him until Shaffer‘s recovery and eventual return.
Now comes word that the band’s drummer Ray Luzier has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be missing their immediate live shows with System Of A Down and more. A statement issued by the band earlier today, October 14th reveals that Aric Improta of Fever 333/Night Verses fame will be filling in for him for their next three shows. Here’s how it reads:
“Unfortunately, Ray has tested positive for COVID, and he will not be playing the next three shows in Vegas, Fresno, and Oakland. Korn will be continuing on as scheduled despite these circumstances.
We are anticipating a quick recovery for Ray and he should be back to play the Los Angeles shows with us.”
