Mindless Self Indulgence frontman Jimmy Urine (aka James Euringer) has found himself accused of sexual battery of a minor and more in a new lawsuit. An anonymous woman filed suit against Euringer in a New York Supreme Court today, August 09th, alleging that Euringer began a sexual relationship with her when she was 15 and he was 27.
That relationship is alleged to have taken place between January of 1997 to June of 1999. Warner Music Group, Warner Communications LLC and Elektra Entertainment Group have all been named as defendants in the suit as well, along with the band’s ex-manager and producer Joseph Galus.
Rollingstone.com report that the woman in question alleges that Euringer “groomed and manipulated [her] into believing that his sexually assaultive behavior was not criminal and that by engaging in sexual activity with him Plaintiff was actually helping to protect younger girls from sexual assaults.”
She also alleges that Euringer would photograph her naked, encouraging her to “act like a small child, and suck her thumb, drool, and pee in her pants.” The suit goes on to allege that Euringer would insist that they downplay the sexual nature of their relationship when in public.
She further claimed that Galus and the band’s label at the time (Elektra) were negligent and aiding and abetting her alleged sexual battery in knowing of the knowledge of their relationship at the time.
The suit claims that a photo of the girl in question taken when she was a minor was used on a band t-shirt said to have been developed by Elektra, while Elektra‘s A&R and Galus witnessed Euringer and herself conducting an intimate relationship while in the studio together. The suit alleged of that:
“With their knowledge, relationship to Euringer, and control over Euringer, his shows, his music, and at times his access to minors, Defendants had the opportunity and ability to stop Euringer’s sexual assaults, and to protect Plaintiff and others, but did not. As a result, Plaintiff has suffered humiliation, shame, and horror that she will continue to suffer for the rest of her life.”
