ZZ Top have announced the passing of their longtime bassist Dusty Hill at the age of 72. In a statement shared earlier today, July 28th the band’s vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard commented:
“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. Hill, a member of the band since 1970, had previously missed a show last week to “address a hip issue”. Elwood Francis was enlisted to to fill-in for him.
