Attila’s Chris Fronzak On “Metalcore Manson” Controversy: “I’m Actually Referencing Charles Manson”

Attila once again invited controversy yesterday, April 30th, with the debut of their new single “Metalcore Manson“. Misogynistic lyrics aside, the track was deemed by some to be in poor taste given the recent sexual assault allegations leveled against Marilyn Manson. Just yesterday actress Esmé Bianco filed suit against Manson, alleging rape, abuse and human trafficking.

Attila frontman Chris Fronzak was asked about the controversy on Twitter by a fan overnight and commented:

Charles Manson was of course a cult leader of the ‘Manson Family‘, the latter of whom committed a series of murders in the late 1960s. He was in part an inspiration for Marilyn Manson‘s namesake. Lyrically the song does seem to reference Charles Manson, with the line “Killed the fucking game, Call me ‘Metalcore Manson!'”.

However, given that the cover art for single adapted a past Marilyn Manson logo, and Attila‘s own past history with sexual assault/misconduct allegations (#1, #2 and #3) last year, Fronzak‘s explanation is unlikely to calm matters.
