As the realization that Burton C. Bell won’t be returning to Fear Factory sets in and some not entirely courteous public statements between him and the band’s guitarist Dino Cazares having been exchanged, a tonal shift has been present in Cazares social media demeanor.
While Cazares had previously been hoping to mend fences with Bell and welcome him back to the band, Bell has since rescinded that offer with Cazares now planning to replace him with a new vocalist. The two former bandmates became estranged following the resolution of a lengthy lawsuit that saw themselves separately targeted by former members of the band in relation to the Fear Factory trademarks. That suit was resolved earlier this year and found Cazares emerging with control of “100% of Fear Factory”
As such, Cazares is moving forward with plans to release a new album the outfit recorded several years ago before shelving it amid the legal battle. Cazares has since revisited the album in the studio, re-tracking his parts, implementing proper drum tracks by Mike Heller and more. He launched this successful crowdfunding campaign to make his new vision for the album a reality.
That album is tentatively due out in March on Nuclear Blast and will feature Bell‘s already completed vocal tracks. Cazares himself of course has some experience when it comes to the situation Bell finds himself in, having previously had a nasty split with the band that lasted from 2002 to 2009.
During that time, the group released an album titled “Archetype” which Cazares insists lyrically targeted him. Speaking on Twitter earlier today (October 29th) in response to a fan asking him about that, he offered:
A honor that He wrote lyrics about me the entire record. Shows that I still had a effect on them when I was gone. He wrote lyrics about them too on Powershifter, that’s about him taking over the business+ trademark forcing change, funny how Karma comes back around https://t.co/hWVtxL1rUH

A separate post made earlier today also saw Cazares address those critical of his plans to continue the band without Bell:
This is Not The End, but the Beginning of a New Machine. Fuck all the haters, the whiners, the cry babies, the doubters, fuck all the people who fear change. It’s time for me to create the new chapter. Grab your guitar and let’s slay some new riffs. https://t.co/6hEzmxffks pic.twitter.com/aOTLm6AwQd

On a more positive note, Cazares has mentioned that a first single from the upcoming new album is due out before the year’s end, you can see confirmation of that below:
That how the Record label wants it but at least you’ll get the first single this year https://t.co/NYrE2J23QU
