Live Nation have now officially announced their ‘ticket relief’ program, which will enable select fans to get their money back or a 150% credit voucher towards should they meet certain criteria. The details emerge after they and their sister company Ticketmaster found themselves the target of widespread criticism after having revised their refund policy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Lawsuits and a suggestion of an official inquiry also emerged in the wake of the outcry.
The key issue at hand stems from their decision to not issue refunds for shows that had been postponed indefinitely without a new date announced. Previously Ticketmaster had been offering refunds for shows that had been ‘postponed, rescheduled or cancelled’.
A statement issued later on the matter by Ticketmaster did little to quell the uproar. Per the new arrangement, outright cancelled shows are eligible for a refund or a 150% credit. Shows that have been rescheduled with a new date are eligible for a refund within 30 days of the new show date having been announced.
Meanwhile, if a show has been postponed for 60 days without a new date announced, a 30-day window will open up entitling fans to a refund. You can find out more details on that relief program, including an initiative that will donate tickets to frontline healthcare workers, over at Live Nation.
