Ex-Ill Niño Frontman Cristian Machado Announces Acoustic Album

Ex-Ill Niño frontman Cristian Machado has a new album titled “Hollywood Y Sycamore” headed for a fall release on Chesky Records. This endeavor will find him stepping outside of work in metal, with Machado himself describing it as an acoustic album. He commented via social media late last week:

“Hello friends! I’m announcing my official departure from ill niño. We’ve reached a fair settlement and I want to wish the band luck on their new journey. The music I wrote for the band will always exist in my heart and hopefully in yours. In other news, my acoustic album is done and definitely shines a very bright light on the future.

The first single “Die Alone” will be out late summer, it may be one of the best ones I’ve ever written. The album “Hollywood Y Sycamore” will be out late fall 2020 on Chesky Records known for their work with Macy Gray, McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter, and more.

I want to thank those who through this ordeal have offered me guidance and given me faith. Thank you familia for having me be your comandante for over 20 years, it’s now time for this little plane to fly ✈️✈️✈️✈️”

Word of Machado‘s solo project follows the recent legal settlement reached between Machado and several other now former members of Ill Niño. Machado, guitarist Ahrue Luster and guitarist Diego Verduzco had all been seeking control together over the Ill Niño trademarks in a legal battle against drummer Dave Chavarri and bassist Lazaro Pina.

The latter duo had launched a new version of the band with new members back in early 2019, without the consent nor approval of Machado, Luster or Verduzco. A settlement allowing Chavarri and Pina to continue on as Ill Niño was announced last week.
