Ozzy Osbourne appears on the cover story of the latest issue of Kerrang! and speaks at length about his health and how he feels facing down the limitations of his own mortality. Osbourne himself has had a rough go of it over the past two years in particular, suffering pneumonia and a serious fall which dislodged steel rods from a previous surgery, resulting in nerve damage and more.

As a kicker, while being treated for the latter, he was diagnosed with PRKN 2—a form of the degenerative neurological disorder Parkinson’s disease.

Speaking with the aforementioned publication of his thoughts regarding the time he has left on this earth, the 71-year-old commented:

“Do I ever think about when my time’s gonna come? I think about it; I don’t worry about it. I won’t be here in another 15 years or whatever, not that much longer, but I don’t dwell on it. It’s gonna happen to us all.

Am I happy now? No. I haven’t got my health. That thing knocked the shit out of me, man, but I’m still here. In fact, I worried about [death] more when I was younger than I do now. I just try to enjoy things as much as possible, even though that’s so fucking hard sometimes.”

He remains encouraged by his progress however, offering:

“If you saw me at the beginning of last year you’d think I was fucked. But I honestly think making this album is the best medicine I could have had. I was doing something, something I like to do. I wish I could do more, but it just felt great.”

Osbourne currently has a new album titled “Ordinary Man” headed for a February 21st release date. Elton John, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Post Malone are among the featured guests. Producer/musician Andrew Watt (Post Malone), Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith were brought in for the studio sessions.

Osbourne aims to be well enough to tour again by the spring and currently has the following dates booked:
