The Acacia Strain recently surprise released a new outing by the name of “It Comes In Waves” which showed off a different side of the group. Soon after that it was revealed that they also have another new album completed and due out this year.
While that alone would be more than enough for most bands, 2020 will also see their 2010 album “Wormwood” turn 10. Despite having two new releases to promote, the group are still hoping find the time to celebrate that anniversary on the road as well.
However, as they learned from touring on the 10th anniversary of “Continent” so soon after their 2017 release “Gravebloom“, there’s a delicate balance to be struck in how to go about it. Essentially they don’t want their anniversary touring to draw the focus from new material, as their “Continent” anniversary touring did with their new album “Gravebloom“.
In a recent chat with the ‘BREWtally Speaking Podcast‘, the band’s guitarist Tom Smith shared some hints at how they hope to approach it:
“I can’t talk in-depth about it, but we have… because of the way ‘Continent‘ and ‘Gravebloom‘… essentially ‘Continent‘ 10 year ruined ‘Gravebloom‘.
…Because of the way that went, we are in the process of coming to fruition, but we an idea that will occur later in the year that will honor the new stuff and ‘Wormwood‘ as an anniversary in, I think, a very cool and unique way. But we are doing…. everything that we can do to honor that record, cause it’s super important to the band and to our fans, while also honoring the new stuff that we’re putting out and making sure that the proper attention is given to the new stuff, so we can move forward with the new stuff.
I can’t go in-depth about it, but there’s an idea that we’ve got that we’re working out the kinks with and literally just getting it solidified with booking agents and all the management side of stuff.”
