The Identity Of Static-X’s Mystery Singer ‘Xer0’ Has Been Revealed Thanks To A Tattoo

0

If you’ve remained skeptical of the rumors that Dope vocalist/guitarist Edsel Dope is the man behind the Wayne Static mask on Static-X‘s ongoing “Wisconsin Death Trip” 20th anniversary touring, there’s now some hard evidence to support it. Metaladay.dk have shared the below photos, which find the current Static-X frontman ‘Xer0‘ sporting the exact same neck tattoo as Edsel Dope.

It would seem that Static-X took some lessons from Slipknot‘s past mistakes when it came to keeping Edsel‘s identity under wraps for this long. To that end they employed long sleeve shirts to presumably hide Edsel‘s more obvious arm tattoos. Initial live performances with the band also saw Edsel perform as ‘Xer0‘ with his neck covered, perhaps to prevent this very discovery.

Given that Dope have joined the band on the road for nearly ever stop of Static-X‘s touring this year; and the band’s hints that the singer was a friend of Wayne‘s who had toured with him in the past, you can pretty much close the case.

Static-X will be releasing a new album titled “Project Regeneration” on May 29th. For that outing the group’s ‘classic’ era lineup of Tony Campos, Ken Jay and Koichi Fukuda reunited and built new songs around previously unreleased songs tracked by the band’s late frontman/guitarist Wayne Static.
