Old Man Gloom drummer Santos Montano appeared on the new episode of ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours Podcast‘ and revealed that the band’s late bassist/vocalist Caleb Scofield will be included on their forthcoming new album. Old Man Gloom have been in the studio this year with initial sessions taking place under producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis), while the ongoing final recording sessions are taking place at GodCity Studio in Salem, MA with Converge‘s Kurt Ballou.
Speaking of Scofield‘s inclusion on the record, Montano stated:
“We have a bunch of songs that Caleb wrote coming on this record. And some of them are even tracks that he did multi-tracks at home, just on an iPad. And so we’re gonna be including those songs on this album.”
“…Caleb‘s wife was generous enough to give us the iPad and let us take all the stuff off of it and there were 15 songs on there.”
Since Scofield‘s untimely passing in a 2018 car accident, his Cave In bandmate Steven Brodsky has been brought in to take his place in Old Man Gloom. Scofield‘s musical ideas were also included posthumously on Cave In‘s latest record, “Final Transmission“.
